OFFICE OF THE OMBUDSMAN

The Office of the Ombudsman is a Public body established under the Malawi Constitution section 123 to investigate any and all cases where it is alleged that a person has suffered injustices and it does not appear that there is any remedy reasonably available by way of appeal from court or where there is no other practicable remedy.

The Ombudsman now invites applications from suitably qualified persons to fill the following vacant positions:

Responsible to : Deputy Director of Research, Documentation and Civic Education

Salary Scale : MK3, 089,916.00 MK3, 659,244.00 Per annum

Duty Station : Headquarters, Lilongwe

Duties

  • Providing leadership in the documentation Section
  • Mobilizing resources for the documentation Section
  • Managing the case management system
  • Cataloguing and binding Ombudsman's determinations
  • Producing monthly Press reviews
  • Maintaining records of Ombudsman's determinations
  • Supervising and inducting subordinates in the Section
  • Preparing budgets and work plans for the Section
  • Participating in compilation of reports for the division

Job Specifications

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Library Sciences, Development Communication plus 4 years working experience as a Documentation Officer (Grade A9) level. Possession of a Master's Degree in Information Technology, Library Sciences or Development Communication with not less than 2 years' experience would be an added advantage.

Skills/Personal attributes

  • Team builder and ability to work without supervision
  • Good Computer knowledge in Microsoft Office (word, excel, access) and other related packages
  • Good track record of interpersonal skills
